What!? It's 2013?!?

What happened in the last 6 months?..and where did the time go?

Well, needless to say, after the 4th of July --things started to spin out of control! It's still hard to believe that 6 months ago I was in the midst of my level two fieldwork. I survived! You might have all thought that I did not - and whose to blame when I go MIA for the last 6 months!? My sincere apologies.  However, my 'surviving' involved me giving EVERYTHING up in order to survive -- thus abstaining from blogging.

Never fear, though, I am back! I am amazed at how life continues to move forward, with or without us. I'm pretty sure it was moving on without me for the last six months and I am just now playing catch up.  I am ready for 2013.  When I finally did wake up from my slumber - as everything in the last six months have felt like a dream/sometimes nightmare - I decided that I am going to embrace 2013 and what the new year may bring.

Just a quick run down --and I mean QUICK!
  • Completion of both level 2 fieldwork
  • Our family was shaken with an 'unspoken' event - but proceeded on (as we tend to)
  • Graduation from graduate school
  • Studying for the board exam
  • Luke begins a year of rotations
So there it is.  It doesn't seem like a lot --but I kinda feel like those are big things
(that took up a lot of energy).  In addition to the above stated, I have made a personal vow to 'get healthy.'  NOT to be confused with a resolution.

Resolution: A firm decision to do or not to do something.

Vow: A solemn promise.

Do I need to explain the difference in my choice of words?

 - Not just physically, but mentally and spiritually healthy as well.  I have already signed up for 2-5k's this spring, implemented a workout routine, made time for my Savior again, and 'working' on healthy eating (ugh, this is the toughest!).  I like brownies ---and 'moderation' is somewhat subjective.  However, I want to feel better again and I can tell that my body is not tolerating everything that I put into it.

I found a quote by Denzel Washington the other day:

"I made a commitment to completely cut out drinking and anything that might hamper me from getting my mind and body together. And the floodgates of goodness have opened upon me - spiritually and financially."

-While drinking is not necessarily an issue for me, it made sense.  I want to feel better, on the inside and out.  In order to achieve this I need to  avoid all things that get in the way of promoting my health --spiritually and physically.

Thus, it has been decided --2013 is going to be my year.

This may be late, but what Resolutions (or Vows) have you made for 2013? What tips do you have to achieve them? Don't forget to check out my Fun Resources page to take a look at the new 5K Race Links I've posted!
